Doug was born and raised in the Twin Cities and graduated from the University of Minnesota’s Carlson School of Management with a Bachelor of Science in Business. Upon passing the Certified Public Accounting exam, Doug worked for his father’s CPA firm and then established D.C. Schluter in 1990 to service his father’s long-time clients while growing a diverse clientele. In 2024, Doug merged his practice into the firm of Stenseth Schluter Boese & Hance, LLC and continues to provide high quality income tax and advisory services. Realizing that large firms are not always able to effectively meet the needs of small start-up businesses, Doug assists in many aspects of start-ups and owner-managed businesses including bookkeeping support, tax compliance, payroll, forecasting, and other services.

With Tami, his wife, Doug owned and operated the Historic Hutchinson House B&B in Faribault MN until 2019 as the short-term rental and hospitality industries were evolving. Doug is a baseball and hockey fan and enjoys golf when his schedule allows. He is a long-time member of both the American Institute of CPAs and the Minnesota Society of CPAs. Doug is an active member in the leadership of his church as well as other civic and business organizations.
